Wash

See the exact GPS location embedded in your photo — on a map — then download a copy with it removed. Nothing is uploaded.

JPEG · PNG · WebP · HEIC · AVIF · TIFF · DNG · CR2/NEF/ARW/ORF/RW2/PEF/RAF raw · PDF — several at once is fine (you'll get a ZIP back) — or try a sample: JPEG with GPS · iPhone HEIC with GPS · TIFF with GPS · PDF with author info

Private by design: the photo is read and cleaned entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded anywhere — you can even load this page, go offline, and it still works.

Photos know where you were standing

If your camera app has location permission — the default on most phones — every photo you take stores your latitude and longitude in its EXIF GPS tags, typically precise to a few meters. Anyone who gets the original file can read it in seconds. The sample photo loaded above shows exactly what that looks like: a red callout with the coordinates and a map link.

Where this actually leaks

Big social networks (Instagram, Facebook, X) strip EXIF on upload, so the risk there is low. The leaks happen everywhere else: email attachments, cloud-drive share links (Drive, Dropbox, iCloud links share the original file), forums and image boards, classified-ad sites, chat apps that offer "send as file / original quality", and your own website. A photo of a for-sale couch can carry the coordinates of your living room.

How PixWash removes it

Drop the photo above. PixWash parses the file's bytes locally, shows you the GPS tags (and everything else), and builds a clean copy by deleting the metadata blocks while copying the compressed image data through untouched — pixels stay bit-for-bit identical, and the file never leaves your browser. Turn off Wi-Fi after the page loads if you want to prove it.

Prevent it at the source

iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera → "Never" (or use the share sheet's "Options → Location: Off" per share). Android: Camera app settings → turn off "Save location". You'll lose the ability to browse your own photos by place, which is the trade-off.
